Job summary
We require an enthusiastic Consultant Radiologist to join our team our team of 23 Substantive Consultant Radiologists. The appointee will be primarily based at either Eastbourne DGH or Conquest Hospital Hastings although this may change dependent on service need.
Applicants should demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in General Radiology and Radionuclide and lower GI Radiology. The successful candidate is expected to participate in the development of Radiology services.
The Radiology Departments are actively involved in teaching with four radiology trainees on rotation from HEKSS deanery. Audit and other continuing professional developmental activities are positively encouraged.
This post will be offered on the Terms and Conditions in line with national pay scales.
Main duties of the job
Our General Radiology consultant team is responsible for checking scans the following day to ensure quality assurance and education on a 1 in 8 rota.

Job description
Job responsibilities
First line on call is provided by Specialty Registrar or Specialty Doctor radiologists until 10pm weekdays and 5pm weekends with on call outsourced to a reporting company overnight. Daytime cover is also provided for a Malignant cord compression MRI at weekends on the same 1 in 8 rota.

Qualification & Registration
Essential
MB BS or equivalent
Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists
Full Registration with licence to practise with GMC
Included on the GMC Specialist Register at the time of interview or to have obtained CCT within 6 months of interview date. Certificate of eligibility for specialist registration (CESR)
Desirable
MD or equivalent
Other higher degree or diploma
Training and experience
Essential
Wide experience of all aspects of radiology including multislice CT and MRI
Desirable
Fellowship in a specialist area of Radiology.
Administration & Management
Essential
Experience in day to day organisation of radiology services in a busy DGH radiology department.
Leadership skills
Familiar with and committed to the principles of Clinical Governance, risk assessment, adverse incident recording and appraisal.
Understanding of recent initiatives and changes, including Clinical Governance and Appraisal

Management course and/or qualifications
Knowledge of the structure of Health Service
