We're a technology company focused on creating a smart, sustainable energy system. From optimising renewable generation, creating a more intelligent grid and enabling utilities to provide excellent customer experiences, our operating system for energy is transforming the industry around the world in a way that benefits everyone.
It's a really exciting time in energy. Help us make a real impact on shaping a better, more sustainable future.
Role Mission
As a Financial Product Manager for Charges & Costs, you will own the calculation engine that powers client profitability and commercial agility across Kraken. Your work is centered on Kraken's unified system for calculating charges across billing and quoting.
Your mission is to give all clients full, self-service control over their cost calculation. You will provide strategic input into designing a highly flexible tool that requires no developer intervention. You will support crucial client tariff offerings, enabling dynamic tariffs and the growth of renewables, thereby contributing directly to the core Kraken mission.
Primary Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Vision
- Own the long-term vision for our accurate charging, costing and taxation systems, with the primary goal of achieving client full self-service
- You will define the roadmap, translate complex commercial and regulatory needs (e.g., Accruals, Taxation) into core product capabilities and drive the adoption of these innovations across all markets.
Cross-Domain Integration Alignment
- Act as the strategic alignment lead across different teams that rely on Costing (e.g. Quoting, Issuance and Product Catalogue). You must ensure all domains operate from one consistent definition of how tariffs are sold and calculated, while owning the trade-off discussions and clearly communicating to enforce core product adoption.
Market Expansion & Technical Discovery
- Proactively conduct discovery to understand the calculation needs of new customer segments (e.g., Distribution Network Operators) and ensure the core framework is built to support the widest possible range of clients and markets. You will define the technical requirements needed to support highly complex and large-scale calculations by becoming the expert across different markets.
Key Success Metrics & Outcomes
Your success is defined by client independence, the strategic adoption of new capabilities and the reliability of our financial compliance.
Product Adoption & Innovation (Self-Serve)
- Measurable reduction in the time it takes for a client to start or change a new tariff and maintain the high client self-service rate for tariff configuration
Strategic Coverage
- Successfully build core functionality across all customer segments (e.g. B2C, Distribution, B2B) to unlock entry into new markets.
- Drive the creation of capabilities that support client differentiation (e.g., dynamic tariffs, renewables), translating complex needs into core system functionality.
Accuracy & Compliance
- Ensure full accuracy in all regulated tax and charge calculations, protecting both our reputation and the client's.
What You'll Need
- Highly capable Individual Contributor who wants to become a domain expert
- 4+ years of experience in product management within a tech or SaaS environment
- Experience with financial systems (billing, pricing) and managing complex operational processes where data integrity is preferred
- A strong technical background is a significant advantage (e.g., understanding of SQL, data architecture and complex calculation logic) to design robust pricing and charging solutions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into clear technical specifications for engineering teams.
- Fluent in English is required
- The ability to thrive in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment and a curious mindset focused on continuous improvement and learning
- Knowledge of the energy market or additional European languages is a plus
Strong understanding of product management methodologies, agile development, and user-centric design
