- Assessing Specialist (Part-Time)
Description
Create and maintain all property records, perform detailed technical processes, provide support to division staff and provide extensive customer service to individuals and property owners relating to homestead and property tax issues. Work is subject to periodic review and approval of recommendations by the city assessor.
Please note: This is a regular part-time position of 24 hours per week with a consistent schedule. The preferred schedule is five days per week, though a four-day workweek may be considered. Daily shifts typically range from 4–6 hours.
Requirements
1. Provides high quality customer services to internal and external customers on behalf of the assessing division through responding to questions and inquiries in a consistent, comprehensive, accurate and responsive manner; educating customers and involving other resources as necessary.
2. Prepares and processes assessing reports, electronic certificates of real estate value, homestead applications and others. Creates and maintains assessing files, making sure division is compliant with all records retention policies.
3. Represents the City of Minnetonka to outside organizations by serving as the primary contact with Hennepin County for administrative processes and /or programs: eCRV, abatements, change orders, divisions, eHomestead, veteran’s exclusion and other special programs.
4. Maintains the special assessments for the City by working with multiple departments to ensure all special assessments are tracked and documented in our property data system. Enter and track payments as received. Respond to inquiries regarding special assessment, both verbal and written. Compile all documents needed for city council approval of special assessments.
5. Ensures clear communications are being delivered to customers and partners on behalf of the division. Prepare, edit and proofread communications such as meeting notices, minutes, agendas, presentations and reports; composes internal and external correspondence on behalf of city assessor and staff.
6. Independently monitors work to ensure standards are being met to ensure processes and procedures are compliant; develops written policies and procedures; maintains related records.
7. Performs other duties consistent with the responsibilities of the position as apparent or assigned.
