The City of Coffs Harbour is seeking an experienced, credible and resilient leader to take on the role of Section Leader Waste Services.
Reporting to the Group Leader Water and Waste Services, this is a senior specialist leadership role with accountability for waste services operations, strategy and landfill management during a pivotal period of change.
This is not a business-as-usual role. Waste services are undergoing a significant reset, with a strong focus on strengthening leadership, improving safety and operational discipline and positioning the organisation for long-term sustainability.
You will lead both the strategic direction and day-to-day performance of a complex, high-risk operational function, balancing long-term planning with hands-on leadership across services, contracts and facilities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading waste operations, landfill management and service delivery performance
- Driving contractor performance, commercial outcomes and service standards
- Strengthening safety, compliance and operational discipline across facilities
- Leading key transition projects, including major contract changes
- Providing clear, evidence-based advice to executive leadership
You will bring experience across waste, resource recovery, infrastructure or similar heavy operational environments, along with strong contractor and risk management capability and the ability to lead change in complex settings.
Local government experience is desirable but not essential.
The role offers a salary from $138,541 plus super, with an upcoming annual increase effective from 1st July.
